4. Vorbereitung

Proper preparation of the wood is crucial for effective stabilization.

1. Clean the Wood: Ensure the green wood is clean and free from dirt, debris, or loose bark.
2. Cut to Desired Shape: Cut the wood to its approximate final shape or size before treatment. This allows the Pentacryl to penetrate the surfaces that will be exposed.
3. Feuchtigkeitsgehalt: Pentacryl is most effective on green wood with high moisture content. It is not intended for use on already dry or partially dry wood.

5. Anwendungshinweise

5.1 Soaking Method (Recommended for smaller pieces)

1. Containerauswahl: Choose a non-reactive container (plastic or stainless steel) large enough to fully submerge the wood.
2. Untertauchen: Place the green wood into the container and pour Pentacryl over it until completely submerged.
3. Einweichzeit: The soaking time depends on the thickness of the wood. A general guideline is 1 day per inch of thickness. For very dense woods or larger pieces, longer soaking times may be beneficial.

5.2 Brushing Method (For larger or irregularly shaped pieces)

1. Anwendung: Apply Pentacryl generously to all surfaces of the green wood using a brush, roller, or sprayer.
2. Sättigung: Continue applying until the wood is saturated and no longer readily absorbs the product. This may require multiple coats.
3. Wiederbewerbung: For best results, reapply Pentacryl daily for several days, or until the wood is fully saturated.

6. Trocknungsprozess

After treatment, the wood must be allowed to dry slowly and evenly.

1. Umfeld: Place the treated wood in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct heat sources or sunlight. Avoid rapid drying conditions.
2. Luftzirkulation: Ensure good air circulation around all surfaces of the wood. You may use spacers or stickers to elevate the wood if stacking.
3. Trocknungszeit: Drying time will vary significantly based on wood type, thickness, and environmental conditions. Pentacryl can reduce this time by up to 30%, but patience is key for optimal results.
4. Überwachung: Regularly inspect the wood for any signs of cracking or warping during the drying process. Adjust drying conditions if necessary.

7. Post-Treatment and Finishing

Once the wood is completely dry, it can be further processed and finished.

• Schleifen: The treated wood can be sanded as usual. Pentacryl residue may lubricate tools, making sanding easier.
• Fertigstellung: Pentacryl does not interfere with common wood finishes, including stains, paints, varnishes, and sealers.
• Kleben: Treated wood can be glued using standard wood adhesives.
• Carving and Turning: The stabilized wood is ideal for carving and turning, offering a more stable and predictable material.

8. Fehlerbehebung

• Wood Still Cracking/Splitting: This usually indicates insufficient saturation or too rapid drying. Ensure the wood is fully saturated with Pentacryl and dried slowly in a controlled environment. Thicker pieces may require longer soaking times.
• Schimmelpilzbefall: Mold can occur if the wood is stored in a humid environment during drying, especially if air circulation is poor. Ensure adequate ventilation and consider a fungicide if mold is a persistent issue (not provided by Pentacryl).
• Uneven Penetration: If the wood shows uneven stabilization, ensure all surfaces were thoroughly cleaned and saturated during application. For soaking, ensure the wood is fully submerged.
