4. Einrichtung und Installation
Proper wiring is essential for safe and correct operation. Refer to the diagrams below for connection details.
4.1 Kabelverbindungen
- Stromversorgungsanschluss: Connect your DC power supply (10V-30V) to the "IN" terminals. Ensure the positive pole of the power supply connects to the positive terminal on the controller, and the negative pole connects to the negative terminal.
- Motoranschluss: Connect your brushed DC motor to the "OUT" terminals (M1 and M2). The polarity here will determine the initial direction of the motor.
- Potentiometer: The potentiometer is pre-wired and connects to the controller board via a small connector. This controls the motor speed.
- Umkehrschalter: The reversing switch is also pre-wired and connects to the controller board. This switch allows you to change the motor's direction (Forward, Stop, Reverse).

Image 4.1: Basic wiring diagram showing connections for power supply (IN) and motor (OUT). The positive power supply connects to the positive input, and the negative power supply connects to the negative input. The motor connects to the M1 and M2 terminals.

Image 4.2: Schematic wiring diagram illustrating the connections between a power supply, the controller board, the reversing switch, the potentiometer, and a DC motor. The switch controls forward, stop, and reverse, while the potentiometer adjusts speed.

4.2 Kontrollleuchten
- Betriebsanzeige: A green LED illuminates when power is supplied to the controller.
- Forward/Reverse Indicators: Red LEDs indicate the current direction of the motor (one for forward, one for reverse).

5. Bedienungsanleitung
Once properly wired, operate the motor speed controller as follows:
- Einschalten: Ensure all connections are secure. Apply DC power within the 10V-30V range. The green power-on indicator LED will illuminate.
- Richtung festlegen: Use the three-position reversing switch to select the desired motor direction:
- Nach vorne: Move the switch to one side. One of the red indicator LEDs will light up.
- Umkehren: Move the switch to the opposite side. The other red indicator LED will light up.
- Stop: Position the switch in the center to stop the motor. No red indicator LEDs will be lit.
- Geschwindigkeit anpassen: Rotate the potentiometer knob to adjust the motor speed. Turning the knob clockwise typically increases speed, while turning it counter-clockwise decreases speed. The speed can be adjusted from 5% to 95% of the maximum.

6. Wartung
The RioRand DC Motor Speed PWM Controller is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance:
- Sauber halten: Ensure the controller board is free from dust, dirt, and moisture. Use a soft, dry brush or compressed air for cleaning.
- Verbindungen prüfen: Überprüfen Sie regelmäßig alle Kabelverbindungen auf festen Sitz und Korrosionsfreiheit. Lose Verbindungen können zu Funktionsstörungen oder Schäden führen.
- Überlastung vermeiden: Do not exceed the specified maximum continuous output current of 3A or the maximum output power of 120W to prevent damage to the controller.
- Belüftung: Ensure adequate airflow around the controller, especially around the heatsinks, to prevent overheating during prolonged operation.
7. Fehlerbehebung
If you encounter issues with your RioRand DC Motor Speed PWM Controller, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:
- Motor Not Responding / No Power Indicator:
- Verify that the DC power supply is connected correctly and providing power within the 10V-30V range.
- Prüfen Sie alle Kabelverbindungen auf Lockerheit oder falsche Polarität.
- Ensure the reversing switch is not in the center (stop) position.
- Motor Whines at Low Speeds:
- This controller operates at a PWM frequency of 500 KHz. Some types of brushed DC motors may produce an audible whine or hum at lower speeds due to this frequency. This is a characteristic of the controller and not indicative of a fault. If this is problematic for your application, consider using a motor designed for higher PWM frequencies or a controller with a different PWM frequency.
- Motor Runs Intermittently or Stops Unexpectedly:
- Check for loose wiring connections, especially at the terminal blocks.
- Ensure the motor is not drawing more than the maximum continuous current (3A) or exceeding the 120W power limit. Overloading can trigger the overload protection.
- Inspect the motor itself for any mechanical issues or blockages.
- Controller Overheats:
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the heatsinks on the controller board.
- Confirm that the motor load does not exceed the controller's specifications.
- Incorrect Motor Direction:
- If the motor spins in the opposite direction to what is indicated by the switch, reverse the motor connections (M1 and M2 terminals).
