Verbindungsschritte:

  1. Stromversorgung: Connect your DC power source (6-60V) to the VCC (positive) and GND (negative) terminals. Ensure correct polarity to prevent damage. The main board power supply circuit does not include a fuse; consider adding one externally for protection.
  2. Motoranschluss: Connect the three motor phase cables (U, V, W) from your brushless motor to the MA, MB, and MC terminals on the controller.
  3. Hall-Sensor-Anschluss: Connect the Hall sensor wires from your motor to the corresponding Ha, Hb, Hc, +5V, and GND pins on the controller. This controller requires a motor with Hall sensors to function correctly.
  4. Geschwindigkeitskontrolle:
    • On-board Potentiometer: For manual speed adjustment, use the blue potentiometer on the board.
    • External Potentiometer/Analog Input (0-5V): If using an external potentiometer or a 0-5V analog signal (e.g., from a PLC), connect it to the 0-5V and GND terminals. The on-board potentiometer should be adjusted to its minimum setting when using an external control.
    • External PWM Signal Input: For PWM control, connect your PWM signal (amplitude 2.5-5V, frequency 50Hz-20KHz) to the 'P' pin and GND. The jumper cap on the board next to the speed pot needs to be removed when using external PWM.
  5. Direction Control (DIR): Connect a control signal to the DIR terminal to change motor direction. This input is active high.
  6. Brake/Stop (STOP): Connect a control signal to the STOP terminal for braking or stopping the motor. This input is active low.

Important Safety Note: Always test with small current and low voltage first after wiring. Avoid short circuits during operation, as this can damage the module. Ensure proper wire insulation, especially with high voltage.

Bedienungsanleitung

Once properly wired, the RioRand motor speed controller allows for precise control of your brushless DC motor.

Geschwindigkeitsanpassung:

  • Using On-board Potentiometer: Rotate the blue potentiometer on the board. Turning it clockwise increases speed, and counter-clockwise decreases speed.
  • Using External Analog/PWM Input: If an external control signal is connected, the motor speed will be regulated by the voltage (0-5V) or PWM duty cycle provided to the respective input pins. Ensure the on-board potentiometer is set to minimum when using external control.

Richtungssteuerung:

Apply a high signal (e.g., 5V) to the DIR terminal to change the motor's rotation direction. Remove the signal or apply a low signal to revert to the original direction.

Braking/Stopping:

Apply a low signal (e.g., connect to GND) to the STOP terminal to stop the motor. Note that this function primarily cuts power to the motor and does not provide active braking or holding torque; the motor will stop due to friction.

Wartung

The RioRand motor speed controller is designed for durability. To ensure its longevity and optimal performance:

  • Keep the board clean and free from dust, moisture, and conductive debris.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the controller, especially during high-load operation, to prevent overheating. The heatsink is located on the underside of the board.
  • Regularly check all wiring connections for looseness or corrosion.
  • Avoid exposing the module to extreme temperatures or sudden impacts.

Fehlerbehebung

If you encounter issues with your RioRand motor speed controller, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemMögliche UrsacheLösung
Motor does not spin or hums.Incorrect Hall sensor wiring or motor phase wiring. Motor not compatible (not brushless with Hall, or incorrect electric angle).Verify all Hall sensor and motor phase connections according to the diagram. Ensure your motor is a DC brushless motor with Hall sensors and a 120-degree electric angle.
PWM speed control is erratic or causes shutdown.Noise on the PWM signal line. On-board potentiometer not set to minimum. Jumper cap not removed for external PWM.Ensure the on-board potentiometer is set to its minimum. Remove the jumper cap if using external PWM. Use shielded cables for PWM signals if possible. If using an Arduino, connect the 5V terminal on the controller to an Arduino digital pin set to HIGH/LOW instead of a constant 5V source to manage potential noise issues.
Motor direction control (DIR) does not work.Incorrect signal level to DIR terminal. Wiring issue.Ensure a proper high signal (e.g., 5V) is applied to the DIR terminal. Check the wiring to the DIR terminal for continuity.
Motor does not stop immediately when brake/stop (STOP) is activated. This is expected behavior. The STOP function cuts power but does not provide active braking or holding torque.Understand that the STOP function relies on motor friction to halt. For applications requiring immediate or active braking, an external braking mechanism may be necessary.
Controller gets excessively hot.Overload condition. Insufficient ventilation.Ensure the motor's power requirements do not exceed the controller's 350W limit. Provide adequate airflow around the heatsink.
