Produkt überview

The JHS Pedals Switchback is a compact and powerful utility box designed to enhance your guitar rig's flexibility. Originally conceived as an internal testing tool, its extensive feature set makes it invaluable for both stage and studio environments. It offers a single input, a single output, and two independent selectable effects loops (Send/Return), alongside an A/B toggle that can be controlled by the JHS Red Remote switching system.

Zu den Hauptmerkmalen gehören:

  • One input, one output, and two separate selectable effects loops (Send/Return).
  • Integrated A/B toggle controllable by the JHS Red Remote switching system.
  • 100% true bypass footswitch ensures no signal alteration when disengaged.
  • Functions as an A/B True Bypass Looper, a Simple True Bypass Looper, an A/B Box, an Amp Input Switcher, and an Effects Loop A/B.
  • Allows for discreet placement of the Switchback and its looped effects under a pedalboard or in a rack, with only the compact Red Remote accessible.
  • An essential utility for solving various switching challenges in touring rigs or studios.

Grundlegende Verbindungen:

  1. Eingang: Connect your guitar or the output of your preceding pedal to the 'GUITAR' input jack.
  2. Ausgabe: Connect the 'AMP' output jack to your ampEingang des Verstärkers oder das nächste Effektpedal in Ihrer Signalkette.
  3. Effects Loops (LOOP 1 & LOOP 2): Each loop consists of a 'SEND' and a 'RETURN' jack.
    • Connect the 'SEND 1' or 'SEND 2' jack to the input of the effect pedal(s) you wish to place in that loop.
    • Connect the output of the last effect pedal in the loop back to the corresponding 'RETURN 1' or 'RETURN 2' jack.
  4. Fernbedienungsbuchse: This jack is for connecting the JHS Red Remote (sold separately) to control the A/B toggle remotely.

Stromversorgung:

The JHS Switchback requires a standard 9V DC power supply (center negative). Ensure you use a compatible power supply to prevent damage to the unit.

Operating the Switchback

The JHS Switchback offers multiple operational modes, providing extensive control over your signal path.

Fußschalterfunktionalität:

  • The main footswitch engages or bypasses the entire Switchback unit. When bypassed, your signal passes through unaffected (true bypass).
  • The A/B toggle switch (or connected Red Remote) selects between Loop 1 and Loop 2.

Betriebsmodi:

  • A/B True Bypass Looper: Place different effects chains in Loop 1 and Loop 2. Use the A/B toggle to instantly switch between these two distinct effects setups.
  • Simple True Bypass Looper: Use one loop to engage a single effect or a chain of effects, while the other loop remains empty for a clean bypass.
  • A/B Box: Connect two different instruments to the 'GUITAR' input and 'RETURN 1' (or 'RETURN 2') and switch between them, sending the selected instrument to the 'AMP' output. Alternatively, connect one instrument to 'GUITAR' and send its signal to two different amplifiers connected to 'AMP' and 'SEND 1' (or 'SEND 2'), switching between the amps.
  • Amp Input Switcher: Use the Switchback to switch between two different inputs on a single amplifier, or between two different amplifiers entirely.
  • Effects Loop A/B: Integrate the Switchback into your amplifier's effects loop (Send/Return jacks) to switch between different effects chains or to use it as a master volume control for your amp's power section.

Using as a Master Volume:

One of the most useful applications of the Switchback is as a master volume control for high-wattage amplifiers, allowing you to achieve desirable tones at lower volumes without an attenuator. Connect your amplifier's effects loop 'SEND' to the Switchback's 'GUITAR' input, and the Switchback's 'AMP' output to your amplifier's effects loop 'RETURN'. The volume knob on the Switchback will then act as a master volume for your amp's power section.

Wartung

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your JHS Switchback, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Reinigung: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or internal components.
  • Lagerung: Store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Disconnect all cables when not in use for extended periods.
  • Leistung: Always use the specified 9V DC center-negative power supply. Incorrect power can damage the unit and void the warranty.
  • Handhabung: Handle the pedal with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to excessive force, which can damage the enclosure or internal circuitry.

Fehlerbehebung

If you encounter issues with your JHS Switchback, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Kein Ton:
    • Check all cable connections to ensure they are secure and correctly plugged into the appropriate jacks.
    • Verify that your instrument, amplifier, and any other pedals in the chain are powered on and functioning correctly.
    • Ensure the Switchback's main footswitch is engaged (LED lit) if you intend to use the loops.
    • If using effects loops, ensure the effects pedals within the loops are powered and engaged.
  • Signal Loss/Weak Signal:
    • Inspect all patch cables for damage or faulty connections. Try swapping cables to isolate the issue.
    • Test the Switchback in true bypass mode (main footswitch disengaged) to see if the signal passes through cleanly. If it does, the issue might be within one of the active loops.
  • Unerwünschte Geräusche/Brummen:
    • Ensure you are using a high-quality, isolated 9V DC power supply. Daisy-chaining power with other pedals can sometimes introduce noise.
    • Check for ground loops. Try connecting your equipment to a single power strip.
    • Stellen Sie sicher, dass alle Kabel ordnungsgemäß abgeschirmt sind und nicht parallel zu Stromkabeln verlaufen.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact JHS Pedals customer support for further assistance.
