Aufstellen

Einsetzen und Aufladen der Batterie

The T478 radios come with rechargeable NiMH batteries. To install, open the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio. Insert the NiMH battery pack, ensuring correct polarity. Close the cover securely. Alternatively, the radios can operate on 3 AA batteries (not included for initial setup, but can be used as an alternative power source).

To charge the rechargeable batteries:

1. Place the radios into the charging dock.
2. Connect the Micro-USB charger to the charging dock and a power source.

To attach a belt clip, align the clip with the slots on the back of the radio and slide it down until it clicks into place. To remove, push the release tab and slide the clip upwards.

Ein-/Ausschalten und Lautstärke

• To power on, rotate the On/Off/Volume knob clockwise until you hear a click.

Kanalauswahl und Datenschutzcodes

The T478 offers 22 channels. To select a channel:

1. Press the Menu button until the channel number flashes.
2. Use the Up/Down buttons to select your desired channel.
3. Press the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button or Menu to confirm.

To ensure private communication, use privacy codes. The T478 supports 121 privacy codes. To set a privacy code:

1. Press the Menu button twice until the privacy code flashes.
2. Use the Up/Down buttons to select your desired code.
3. Press the PTT button or Menu to confirm.

Push-to-Talk (PTT)

To transmit, press and hold the PTT button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen.

NOAA-Wetterkanäle und -Warnungen

The T478 can receive NOAA weather channels and alerts. To access:

1. Press the Weather button (often indicated by a cloud icon).
2. Use Up/Down buttons to scan through available weather channels.
3. The radio can be set to alert you to severe weather conditions.

UKW-Radio

To listen to FM radio, press the FM button (often indicated by a music note icon). Use the Up/Down buttons to change stations.

Integrierte Taschenlampe

To activate the built-in flashlight, press the dedicated flashlight button (often on top or side). The flashlight also features an automatic power outage function, illuminating when power is lost.

Wartung

Batteriepflege

To maximize battery life, fully charge the NiMH battery packs before each use. If storing the radios for an extended period, remove the batteries. If using AA batteries, replace them when power is low.

Wetterbeständigkeit

The T478 has an IP54 weatherproof rating, meaning it is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction. While it can withstand rain and snow, it is not designed for submersion in water. Ensure all port covers are securely closed to maintain weather resistance.

Fehlerbehebung

• Schlechte Reichweite: Radio range is highly dependent on terrain and conditions. Mountains, dense foliage, and urban structures can significantly reduce range. For optimal range, ensure clear line of sight.
• No Power/Short Battery Life: Ensure batteries are fully charged. If using NiMH packs, they may degrade over time and require replacement. Check that AA batteries are fresh and correctly inserted.
• Keine Kommunikation: Verify that both radios are on the same channel and privacy code. Ensure PTT button is fully pressed when transmitting.
• Statische Aufladung/Störungen: Change to a different channel or privacy code. Ensure you are within effective range.
